UMZINTO CORRECTIONAL CENTRE WAS ON FIRE

The Department of Correctional Services has released a short statement that confirms that the fire which was seen on social media at Umzinto Correctional Center in Kwazulu Natal has been contained. 

The statement read "A fire at Mzinto Correctional Centre has been contained, and the situation brought back to normalcy. 

All correctional centres remain on high alert due to protests in different parts of the country. 

The Department of Correctional Services is working closely with other law enforcement agencies in this regard. "

This comes after a video clip was shared on social media which showed the Prison on fire and the inmates on the roof of the building.
